What is CD Text?
CD Text is a method created by Sony to allow song titles, band names and other data to be displayed by compatable equipment. This means your CDs can tell you more than just the track number and song length.

Because all digital data is made up of 1's and 0's, CD Text can be used to display just about any message. It's exists on the CD right along side the music data, so it can work seamlessly with the music tracks.

Not all CDs contain CD text, so even if your player supports it, you may find a shortage of discs that will display it. Most CD buring software can encode CD text to the discs you create, though. This means that mix CDs you burn will have the text encoded in them, even if the CDs where the songs came from didn't have it.
