GENERAL INFO.
Will HD-DVD and Blu-Ray compatable with each other or older the older DVD format?
HD-DVD and Blu-Ray hold the promise of HD movies on a format you can watch at home. However, there is currently a catch.

HD-DVD and Blu-Ray will require a special player since the discs won't play on a regular player. The good news is, the new players will play the old discs. However, the two formats are not currently compatable with each other, so you'll need a player for each. Dual format players will eventually be available if the two formats can't come to a compromise.

Currently, Blu-Ray has the advantage of being supported by many computer manufacturers, as well as the Sony Playstation. Of course, the X-Box will be supporting HD-DVD. These devices will put many of these devices in homes that would otherwise not have them.
