GENERAL INFO.
How do cable company DVRs work?
With the popularity of DVRs, cable companies have gotten into the game with units of their own.

A cable DVR is actually similar to a satellite DVR. It includes a digital cable box with a hard drive to record video. Like regular digital cable, you also get an on-screen guide.

You can select shows from the guide and they will record when scheduled. Most units lack the show tracking and advanced search features of units like TiVo, though some are actually powered by TiVo software.

Cable DVRs usually have two tuners like their satellite counterparts.
