How do I enable and adjust the power management settings of my monitor?
In order to save power when you aren't using your computer, you'll want to shut down various components after a certain amount of inactivity. This is important for those that leave their computers on for long periods of time.

To access the power management settings of your monitor, right-click on an empty portion of your Windows desktop and choose "Properties". Click the "Screensaver" tab on the window that appears. From there, choose the "Power" button just below the screensaver settings.

This section will provide you with various ways to control if and/or how long it takes your monitor to go into standby mode. You can also control the behavior of other system components like disk drives. In the case of laptops, you can also set the amount of time before the system goes into standby - a good way to save battery power.
