What are Megapixels?
Images are made up of pixels. Roughly 1000 pixels equals one megapixel.

The resolution of an image, camera or scanner is measured in megapixels. This rating is often what people use to determine the quality of an image a device will produce. Other factors come into play, as well, but this is usually the first factor buyers consider.

Most point and shoot cameras achieve around 5 megapixels while professional cameras can produce 10 or more.
