What does the right mouse button do?

While most of your work is done using the left button on the mouse, the right button has a purpose, too. It actually opens up a small pop-up menu with various options in it. These change depend on what your mouse is pointing at or what program you are using.

A few consistant items are Copy, Cut, Paste and Delete. The are many other options, though, including:

- When pointing at an empty spot on the Windows desktop, choosing "Properties" from the pop-up menu let's you choose a screensaver, change the desktop wallpaper and adjust the power settings of your computer.

- In most web browsers, the right click pop-up menu gives you the option of opening a web page in a new window or save a graphic element from the site to your hard drive.

- Right-clicking let's you share, format (erase) or get space information about a disk drive.

- You can empty the "Recycle Bin" on the Windows desktop by right-clicking on it and choosing the "Empty Recycle Bin" function.

- Dragging a file or program icon by holding the right button instead of the left provides the option to copy to, move to or create a shortcut in a new location.
